Recipe: Overnight Oats

Ever feel rushed or limited on time in the morning? I’ve got you. Two words: overnight oats.

It’s no secret that fueling your body in the morning is part of a healthy lifestyle.  But let’s be real, we don’t always have time in the mornings to prepare something. We oversleep, our babies wake up earlier than expected, our babies need a little extra TLC in the morning, or maybe we just lack the motivation to get busy in the kitchen first thing in the morning.

It happens to the best of us and a simple overnight oats recipe has saved me time and time again.

It’s super easy to throw everything in the jar…win.  Very little to no mess at all…win, win. The whole family loves it…win, win, win.  It’s packed with healthy ingredients…okay, it’s an obvious win on every level.

Not only are they easy to make, but it’s something you can quickly grab from the refrigerator and eat on the go.

The best way to think about overnight oats is as a recipe you can totally customize however you’d like.  If you find a recipe that sounds interesting, you can easily switch out and add ingredients with ease and make it your own.

If you have 2, 3, or more people eating the overnight oats the next morning, each jar can be created with their preferences in mind and everyone is a happy camper in the morning!

Here’s a VERY basic recipe that is a great base to start with:


 Ingredients:

½ Cup Old Fashioned Rolled Oats

½ Cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk

1 Scoop Vanilla Protein Powder (My personal preference is Shakeology...HELLO amazing superfoods)

½ Cup Mixed Berries (frozen or fresh)

 Directions:

Combine oats, almond milk, and protein powder (Shakeology) in a medium bowl and whisk together.

Layer in mason jar with berries, cover and refrigerate overnight (minimum of 2 hours)

Wake up, enjoy, and have an amazing day!
